According to Tom Haudricourt, via Twitter, infielder Luis Cruz has refused his outright assignment to the minor leagues from the Milwaukee Brewers. Opting instead to become a free agent.
Haudricourt apparently has heard rumblings Cruz is about to sign with the Texas Rangers though there's been no word from anyone who covers the Rangers nor official word from the club themselves.Cruz played in just 7 (17 AB's) games last season for the Brewers, hitting .235.
As soon as anything official comes from the team, we'll pass it along.
