Just when you thought college football couldn't get any more surprising, news from the Missouri Tigers this morning announcing quarterbac Tyler Gabbert will transfer.
He was expected to battle for the starting job with fellow quarterback James Franklin and most thought Gabbert was going to be the odds on favorite to be the starter for the 2011 season. Now, it seems Franklin will win the job by default.
“We wish Tyler the best and will do everything we can to assist him going forward,” head coach Gary Pinkel said in a statement released by the school. “He’s worked very hard in our program this past year, and we thank him for his efforts. Tyler is a high quality person and an outstanding football player."
As of right now, there are no indications as to where Gabbert will land or even if he is going to stay in the Big XII conference but according to Bryan Fischer of CBS Sports, Gabbert did have offers from Iowa and Indiana out of high school.
