Former NC State QB Deciding Between Baseball and Football

Former NC State Wolfpack quarterback Russell Wilson will have a decision to make about his future and that decision could come as early as Wednesday.

Wilson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft but apparently told ESPN's Joe Schad he was leaning towards returning to college football, something the Rockies say they have no knowledge of.

But if Wilson does decide to return to football he may already have his spot lined up. After a visit to the University of Wisconsin, a source told Madison.com, "“It was a home run — a grand slam in baseball terms,” they said about Wilson's visit to the school. Another source told College Football Talk that it was a when not if he was about to join the Badgers' football program.

His decision had come down to the Badgers as well as the Auburn Tigers who he also paid a visit to but if these sources are on the money about Wilson's decision, Wisconsin could be making an announcement in the next 24 hours.

This would be a big addition for this program especially after the kind of numbers he put up in the ACC last season. However, if he does decide to return to football keep in mind he will need to return a good chunk of the $250,000 signing bonus he was given by the Rockies.

After Wisconsin's 2010 starter, Scott Tolzien, departing for the NFL, Wilson would be a good candidate to be the starter for the Badgers when they open the 2011 season.

Will his signing bonus be enough to continue his career in baseball or would the lure of possibly being drafted by the NFL in the 2012 draft prove too much of a temptation to keep him from continuing his college football career?
